Whiskeytown Reservoir is one of the most consistent producers of big kokanee in California. Marilyn and Sep were fishing Whiskeytown with Steve Huber of Steve Huber's Guide Service in late September...when Marilyn hooked and landed this monster Kokanee. The Kokanee measured 19-7/8 inches long and weighed just short of 3 pounds. Marilyn was trolling a Sep's gold/starlight dodger in front of a flame/orange Kokanee Kandy lure, 80 feet deep, below the Highway 299 Bridge, when the fish hit. The trio landed serveral other salmon during the trip, but none were as large as this one...looks like it is the largest Kokanee taken in the State in 2006.
